A Model-driven Product Line Approach For HMI Development
This is an example showing the usage of feature models in a software product line for the development of automotive HMI. The feature selection for a product triggers a QVT model transformation from the family model to the variant model - in this case containing HMI screen and screen flow models. The feature modeler and its combintaion with QVT can be applied in other contexts too.

fault tree analysis for model based development of safety critical functions background
Over the past years, more and more safety critical functions in cars, trains and aircrafts are becoming realized by software. Participants in the development process need to be aware of the safety criticality and have to apply specific methods to make sure that the function developed is not harmful to the environment in both normal and mal-functional operation. Qualitative and quantitative risk and effects analysis methods are applied at the system and component configuration level in order to identify and eliminate harmful behavior or at least reduce it to a tolerable level. One popular quantitative risk analysis method is fault tree analysis (FTA).

Application of ISO DIS 26262 in Practice
Automotive manufacturers and suppliers need to follow the requirements stated in ISO DIS 26262 since it is now published state-of-the-art. In this paper we report on experience gained with the application of ISO 26262 in a pilot project at a German car manufacturer as well as experience from various consultancy projects, and recommend a transition from a document-centric approach to safety analysis and associated documentation to a model-based approach.
